Visit cdp.net or follow us @CDP to find out more.</p><p><strong><em>About the Team:</em></strong></p><p><span>The Scoring Engineering team is responsible for building and maintaining CDP’s scoring capabilities. We work in a cross-functional squad, collaborating closely with product, design, QA, and infrastructure to deliver improvements in scoring efficiency, accuracy and proficiency.</span></p><p><strong><em>About this role:</em></strong></p><p>As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, maintaining and improving CDP’s central digital platform. You will contribute technical expertise to scalable systems development, mentor other engineers, and work cross-functionally to deliver high-quality solutions that support CDP’s environmental mission.</p><p><strong><em>What you will do:</em></strong></p><ul><li><p>Report to a Lead Engineer and work collaboratively within a cross-functional squad</p></li><li><p>Write clean, high-quality, well-documented code using modern programming languages and frameworks (React, TypeScript, NodeJS, Python)</p></li><li><p>Perform regular code reviews to uphold high standards of quality, maintainability, and security</p></li><li><p>Optimise application performance and ensure the scalability of core systems</p></li><li><p>Contribute to architectural and design decisions in partnership with product and engineering leads</p></li><li><p>Help refine requirements and offer technical insight during sprint planning and reviews</p></li><li><p>Maintain and improve internal technical documentation</p></li><li><p>Mentor junior engineers and support peer learning and technical growth</p></li><li><p>Stay informed on emerging technologies and propose relevant improvements</p></li></ul><p>Actively contribute to an effective and engaged team, clear on its purpose and contribution, by:</p><ul><li><p>Ensuring you know what is expected of you, through regular 1:1’s, having clear objectives in place, and participating in open and honest performance and development conversations</p></li><li><p>Ensuring a respectful and inclusive workplace, where team members communicate openly, share knowledge so it can be used, and respect difference.</p></li><li><p>Living the CDP Values and demonstrating the behaviours appropriate to your position.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Internal stakeholders:</strong> Engineering, Product, QA, UX/UI, DevOps<br><strong>External stakeholders:</strong> None (unless integrating with third-party APIs or platforms)</p><p><strong><em>We're looking for:</em></strong></p><ul><li><p>Strong hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, NodeJS, and Python</p></li><li><p>Experience building cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure (e.g. Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI)</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform (preferred)</p></li><li><p>Comfort working in Agile and DevOps environments</p></li><li><p>Experience contributing to large-scale, multi-product software systems</p></li><li><p>Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams</p></li><li><p>Knowledge or interest in climate tech, sustainability, or environmental data platforms</p></li></ul><p><span><strong>Nice to have:</strong></span></p><ul><li><p><span>experience with AI, knowledge of AI tools and systems</span></p></li></ul><p><strong>Salary and benefits</strong>: The salary banding for this role is <span>£70,000 - £80,000</span>/year, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, training and development, flexible working opportunities and other benefits.</p><p>Final offer amount depends on multiple factors such as candidates experience and expertise, geographic location, total compensation, and market data.</p><p>This is a permanent role based at CDP’s London office. Interested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK and live within a commutable distance of the London office and be comfortable with 2 days in the office per week.
