Our reputation precedes us as an excellent choice for clients aspiring to elevate their latest multiplayer titles, enabling scalability in player numbers, maximising player density, and crafting immersive gameplay experiences. Embedded seamlessly within a client's in-house team, we collaborate harmoniously to turn dreams into reality. Our portfolio boasts groundbreaking games developed in collaboration with major studios worldwide. As a fully remote studio with colleagues across the globe, we value and emphasise clear, continuous, and transparent communication as highly as technical skills. As a Senior UI Engineer , you will be at the heart of shaping how players interact with massive, complex multiplayer worlds. You will bridge the gap between design, art, and code, architecting scalable, high-performance user interfaces and HUD systems. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure that menus, inventory systems, and real-time data visualization remain fluid, intuitive, and perfectly synchronized in a fast-paced networked environment. Your expertise will drive the frontend tech stack, ensuring players enjoy a flawless and immersive user experience. Architect & Implement: Design, develop, and refine scalable, modular, and performance-driven UI/UX frameworks both within and outside of Unreal Engine. Write Clean Code: Produce elegant, efficient, and highly maintainable C++ and UI scripting code. Optimise Performance: Diagnose and resolve UI-related performance bottlenecks (draw calls, memory usage, widget ticking) to maintain high frame rates across PC and consoles. Collaborate: Partner closely with UI/UX designers, technical artists, and core gameplay engineers to translate wireframes and visual concepts into responsive, functional in-game systems. Multiplayer Integration: Seamlessly connect UI systems with complex multiplayer game states, ensuring accurate, lag-compensated data replication (e.g., inventory updates, matchmaking screens, scoreboards). Problem Solve: Tackle and resolve intricate technical hurdles related to localisation, accessibility, cross-platform input systems (controller/mouse/keyboard), and aspect ratio scaling. Qualifications & Technical Skills Experience: 6+ years of professional game development experience, with a heavy focus on UI engineering. Engine Expertise: 4+ years of deep experience working with Unreal Engine UI frameworks (UMG, Slate, CommonUI). Proprietary Engines: Experience working with at least one proprietary game engine (C/C++ OOP or ECS-based UI systems). C++ Mastery: Strong C++ programming skills, including proficiency in modern standards (C++17/C++20) and memory management. Data & Architecture: Deep expertise in common data structures, algorithms, and MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) or MVC architectural patterns tailored for games. Network Awareness: Solid understanding of Client-Server game architecture and how UI interacts with asynchronous network data and replication. Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to thrive in a fully remote, distributed team environment. What Makes You Stand Out Experience utilizing Unreal’s Gameplay Abilities System (GAS) to drive UI visual feedback (cooldowns, status effects, attribute bars). Advanced experience with UI optimization tools (Unreal Insights, Slate Insights) and profiling UI layout passes. Familiarity with alternative UI middleware or modern web-tech integration in games (e.g., Coherent Gameface, Rive, ImGui, HTML5/CSS/JS solutions). Strong foundation in shader development or material creation specifically for UI effects. Experience implementing extensive accessibility features (screen readers, text-to-speech, colorblind modes) in a AAA title. Familiarity with scripting languages for UI styling and tools development (e.g., Python, Lua).
