Senior Frontend Developer ( React ) Location: London (Hybrid) | Practice Area: Technology & Engineering | Type: Permanent Bring modern web applications to life in the world of financial services. The Role As a Senior Frontend Developer at Capco, you'll craft clean, responsive, and secure web applications that enhance digital experiences for global financial services clients. Working in an agile environment, you'll help shape user interface solutions using React and modern JavaScript technologies while contributing to engineering best practices across multidisciplinary teams. You'll also embrace AI-enabled ways of working, using approved AI and automation tools where appropriate to improve engineering productivity, accelerate delivery, and enhance software quality while applying sound engineering judgement and responsible AI practices. What You'll Do Build high-performance, maintainable user interfaces using React (Hooks, Context, Suspense), TypeScript , and modern frontend engineering practices. Develop responsive, cross-browser compatible applications using modern CSS (Flexbox, Grid), CSS -in-JS or modular CSS , and component libraries such as Material UI or Tailwind CSS , applying AI-enabled engineering approaches where appropriate to improve development efficiency. Optimise application performance through techniques such as code splitting, memoisation, lazy loading, and frontend performance monitoring. Develop secure applications using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT while contributing to quality-driven engineering practices across the software development lifecycle. Collaborate with backend engineers, designers, and product teams to deliver engaging user experiences, while encouraging the responsible use of approved AI tools and automation to improve collaboration and delivery. What We're Looking For Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript , with hands-on experience building production applications using React 18 or later. Solid understanding of state management approaches such as Context API , Redux Toolkit, or similar modern frontend patterns. Experience consuming RESTful APIs, managing asynchronous data, and developing scalable frontend applications with modern tooling such as Vite or Webpack. Strong knowledge of CSS , including Flexbox, Grid, CSS preprocessors (SASS/LESS), and frontend testing frameworks including Jest , React Testing Library, Cypress , or Playwright. Passion for user experience, clean code, and using AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve engineering productivity while maintaining appropriate human oversight, accessibility, security, and software quality. Bonus Points For Experience working with Vue , Angular, or Next .js in production environments. Understanding of secure frontend architecture and performance optimisation techniques. Experience deploying applications through CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices. Familiarity with design systems, component-driven development, and tools such as Storybook. Curiosity to explore responsible AI, automation, and emerging frontend technologies to continually improve engineering practices and user experiences.
